FORMER SCHAUMBURG BOOMER JAKE COUSINS HEADS TO THE WORLD SERIES

SCHAUMBURG, IL - After the New York Yankees clinched the American League pennant on Saturday night, the Frontier League is now all but guaranteed to be represented in the 2024 World Series.
Right-handed reliever Jake Cousins, a former member of the Schaumburg Boomers, will likely be a part of the Yankees' roster in the Fall Classic after appearing in both the Division Series against the Kansas City Royals and the Championship Series against the Cleveland Guardians. So far this postseason, the former Boomer has accumulated a 4.91 in 2.2 innings across three appearances, including a multi-inning appearance in the series-clinching game on Saturday where he struck out four.
During his time with Schaumburg in 2019, the Park Ridge, Illinois compiled a minuscule 0.47 ERA in his 19.1 innings pitched (15 appearances), including an impressive 18-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Cousins had his contract purchased by the Milwaukee Brewers later that season and became the first Boomer in franchise history to reach Major League Baseball in 2021. Since then he has shown himself to be a valuable bullpen arm for contending teams, with a 2.78 career ERA in 90.2 innings between Milwaukee and New York. This season has been his most impressive, reaching career-bests in appearances (37), innings pitched (38), strikeouts (53) and ERA (2.37).
While Cousins is not the first former Frontier Leaguer to play in the bigs this season, he will be the first to reach this year's World Series. The Frontier League would like to extend their best wishes to Jake as he looks to bring home a championship with the Yankees!
