JOHN CRISTINO WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
AVON, OH - John Cristino of the New England Knockouts has been named the Frontier League Player of the Week.
John Cristino went on a tear over the final six games of the season, homering six times and driving in 11 while registering at least one hit in every game. The New England catcher enjoyed two multi-homer games and three multi-hit games as he made a final surge to finish with the Frontier League lead in home runs (26). The game that stood out for Cristino was the series opener against the New York Boulders on Friday, where he went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. He finished his week slashing .375 AVG/.400 OBP/1.208 SLG.
Cristino has made his powerful presence felt in the Knockouts' lineup in their inaugural season, leading the team in RBIs (72) while hitting .293 as the primary catcher in his first season in the Frontier League. He also won the league's home run derby while representing New England in this year's All-Star Game in Québec. His first weekly award comes shortly after he was named the catcher of the 2024 All-Frontier League team.
