NILO RIJO WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK!
JUNE 2, 2024 - New Jersey Jackals' middle infielder Nilo Rijo was selected as the Frontier League Player of the Week!
Nilo Rijo played six games for the New Jersey Jackals this past week, getting defensive time at both shortstop and second base. He was able to produce a .429 average to go along with five doubles, four walks, and six stolen bases. His best game offensively came in the middle game of the Jackals' series with the Sussex County Miners; Rijo went 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs, two doubles, and a walk. His total splits during the week were .429 AVG/.556 OBP/.810 SLG to go along with his 4-to-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio
Rijo, 25, is in his third full year in the Frontier League and is currently in his second season as a member of the New Jersey Jackals. Rijo had previously been in the Boston Red Sox organization before debuting in the Frontier in 2021 with the Sussex County Miners. Rijo is currently on pace to beat his 2023 season statistically, already collecting 18 RBIs compared to 20 total last season.
