BRANDON BACKMAN WINS PITCHER OF THE WEEK
July 1, 2024 - Brandon Backman of the New York Boulders has been named the Frontier League Pitcher of the Week.
Right-hander Brandon Backman was activated off the injury list for the New York Boulders this past week, only to be cast as the game-one starter in a series against the defending champion Québec Capitales on Friday. Backman came through, tossing seven shutout innings and racking up 12 strikeouts to give New York the win.
This is Backman's second time winning the Pitcher of the Week award, winning it for the first time during the week of August 21 last season. The 25-year-old native of Danbury, Connecticut is currently in his second season with the Boulders and is sporting a 4.19 ERA. He also leads the Boulders in strikeouts this year (54) and boasts a 6-0 record in eight starts this season.
