FRONTIER LEAGUE DRAFT 2024: "WITH THE FIRST PICK IN THE DRAFT..."

April 24, 2024: WASHINGTON, PA - The 2024 Frontier League Tryout Camp and Draft concluded Tuesday, with more than 300 players participating. 44 players were selected by Frontier League clubs following a two-day event at Wild Things Park in Washington, Pennsylvania.

"The 2024 Tryout Camp and Draft was a tremendous success," said Frontier League Commissioner Steve Tahsler. "We had an outstanding set of participants as shown by the large number who were invited back for further evaulations and being offered contracts."

Players participating in the workouts represented 36 states and four Canadian provinces, hailing from eight different countries. In addition to the 16 Frontier League Teams taking part in the annual event, more than a dozen scouts from Major League Baseball and other North American and international leagues were present for the tryout and draft. Right-handed pitcher Casey Bargo, from Lily, Kentucky, was selected first overall by the New England Knockouts.

"It's an honor to be picked number one in this year's draft," said Bargo. "I look forward to going to New England and helping them win ball games."

Knockouts Manager Jerod Edmonson added, "We are excited to give Casey an opportunity. He obviously showed really well here today, and we believe he has the ability to positively affect our team."

The players selected Tuesday will report to their clubs immediately for workouts that begin this week. Commissioner Tahsler also expressed the league's gratitude for assistance in the planning and execution of the event, highlighting the contributions of the staff and facilities of the Washington Wild Things and Washington & Jefferson College's baseball program.
