PETER ZIMMERMANN WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

AVOH, OH - Peter Zimmermann of the Gateway Grizzlies has been named the Frontier League Player of the Week.

Infielder Peter Zimmermann had a busy week, beginning with tying a Frontier League record on Tuesday. In the series opener against the Florence Y'alls, the Grizzlies' first baseman homered three times to tie the league single-game record and drove in all five Gateway runs. Zimmermann continued to torch Florence, homering again on Wednesday while driving in two. He stayed hot in the series against Evansville, picking up four hits in a series win that punched Gateway's ticket to the playoffs. Zimmermann finished his week with four homers, nine RBIs, and three stolen bases while slashing .476 AVG/.538 OBP/1.048 SLG.

Zimmermann, a St. Louis native, is the second Grizzly this season to win multiple weekly awards, joining Deylen Miley as a two-time winner. In his third season with Gateway, the 27-year-old has set career-highs in stolen bases and games played and has notched his second straight 20-home run season.
