CLAYTON MEHLBAUER WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
AVON, OH - Clayton Mehlbauer of the New Jersey Jackals has been named the Frontier League Player of the Week.
Clayton Mehlbauer was head and shoulders above the rest of the Frontier League over the past week where power was concerned. He led all 16 teams in home runs (6) and RBIs (10) while slugging a ridiculous 1.033. The Jackals' new third baseman capped his week with a three-homer game against the Trois-Rivières Aigles on Sunday, which tied the Frontier League record for most home runs in a single game. Mehlbauer added two doubles and three walks on 11 total hits while posting a .367 AVG/.424 OBP/1.033 SLG split-stat line in seven games.
Mehlbauer is the third New Jersey player to win a weekly award and the second Player of the Week winner, with infielder Nilo Rijo winning one in the last week of May. The Louisville, Kentucky native was recently acquired from the High Point Rockers of the Atlantic League and has made an immediate impact with the Jackals, clubbing 10 home runs and 18 RBIs in just 18 games.
