FLORENCE Y'ALLS ZADE RICHARDSON WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
May 13, 2024 – After an outstanding series against the Québec Capitales, Florence Y'alls catcher/designated hitter Zade Richardson was selected as Player of the Week.
Richardson got off to a white-hot start in his second season with the Florence Y'alls, going 3-for-4 in his first game on Thursday with a home run and seven RBIs. As if that wasn't enough, Richardson went 2-for-5 in Friday's game with three more RBIs. The former St. Louis Cardinals draft pick capped off his opening series by going 2-for-4 in the series finale on Saturday, highlighted by a triple and yet another RBI. After Opening Weekend, Richardson's 11 RBIs lead the league while his .538 average currently sits at seventh best.
Richardson, originally from Ohio, signed with the Y'alls last season following three seasons in the minor league systems of the Cardinals and the Atlanta Braves. Last season with Florence, Richardson hit .284 with 12 home runs and 36 RBIs in 60 games.
