Y'ALLS WIN IN MASSIVE COMEBACK FASHION - FRONTIER DAILY ROUNDUP

Y'ALLS SHOCK CRUSHERS, SCORE 10 STRAIGHT TO AVOID SWEEP

AVON, OH - The Florence Y'alls overcame an eight-run deficit to defeat the Lake Erie Crushers 10-8 at Crusher Stadium on Thursday.

The Y'alls (6-10) began their comeback effort after finding themselves down 8-0 to the Crushers (11-7) after the second inning. Florence was finally able to get on the scoreboard in the third with an RBI groundout from SS Alberti Chavez. The Y'alls began to creep closer with a two-run homer in the fifth from C Sergio Gutierrez that cut their deficit to 8-3. Things came together in the sixth for Florence, stringing together six runs while batting around in the frame to erase the Crushers' lead and jump ahead 9-8. CF Ashton Creal put the finishing touches on the Y'alls' tremendous comeback with an RBI single in the eighth to put the final score at 10-8. RHP Ross Thompson got the win for Florence out of the bullpen, while RHP Ben Terwilliger earned the save. RHP Brayden Bonner ended up with the loss for Lake Erie. 

The Y'alls will travel back to Kentucky to host the Washington Wild Things for a weekend series, beginning on Friday at 7:03 PM EDT. The Crushers will travel to Joliet to take on the Slammers on Friday. The first pitch is at 7:35 PM EDT.

GRIZZLIES COMPLETE SWEEP OF SLAMMERS

SAUGET, IL - The Gateway Grizzlies beat the Joliet Slammers 9-4 on Thursday night at Grizzlies Ballpark.

Gateway (12-6) is now just a half-game out of the lead for the Frontier League West division after completing the series sweep of the Slammers (7-11). The Grizzlies came out of the gates firing, with LF Andrew Moritz leading the game off with a home run. The Grizzlies doubled their lead to 2-0 in the first with an RBI single from 1B Jack-Thomas Wold. The Slammers answered in the second to tie the game with a pair of fielders' choices, then took the lead in the top of the third. Gateway's offense was unbothered, taking the lead right back in the fourth with a two-run blast from 2B Mark Vierling that made it 5-3. The Grizzlies would continue to pour it on against Joliet, scoring in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to put the game out of reach. RHP Collin Sullivan was able to settle in to obtain his first win of the season. RHP Brett Sanchez took the loss for Joliet.

The Grizzlies will host the Evansville Otters for their next series, beginning Friday at 7:30 PM EDT. The Slammers will head back to Joliet to begin a weekend series with the Lake Erie Crushers. The first pitch for Friday's game is set for 7:35 PM EDT.

TRAXEL THROWS COMPLETE GAME AS BOULDERS BEAT MINERS

PONOMA, NY - The New York Boulders defeated the Sussex County Miners 4-1 at Clover Stadium on Thursday night.

The Boulders (12-4) got their first complete game pitching performance since merging with the Frontier League in 2021. Blaine Traxel was the star of the show for New York, allowing only one run in his nine innings pitched against the Miners (8-10) as the Boulders took the series. Sussex County was able to get their only run in the fifth but was immediately answered by LF David Vinsky's sixth home run of the season to tie the game at 1-1. In the sixth, LHP Bobby Curry came out of the Miners' bullpen to try and keep the game close only to watch his first pitch sail out of the yard, courtesy of C Joe DeLuca as the Boulders took a 2-1 lead. SS Austin Dennis then extended the lead to 3-1 on an RBI double, and another insurance run in the eighth would spell the end of the Miners' hopes of a comeback. Traxel earned his third victory in the effort, while Curry took the loss.

The Boulders will host the Québec Capitales next, beginning on Friday at 7:00 PM EDT. The Miners will head back to New Jersey to play host to the Jackals on Friday. The first pitch for that game is scheduled for 7:05 PM EDT.

BOOMERS TAKE SERIES IN QUEBEC

QUEBEC, CAN. - The Schaumburg Boomers took down the Québec Capitales on Thursday night at Stade Canac, by a final score of 9-4.

The Boomers (12-5) scored seven runs in the first two innings to coast to another series win. Schaumburg put the pressure on Québec (8-10) straight away as LF Chase Dawson knocked an RBI single to center to give the Boomers an early 1-0. That wouldn't be all, as the Boomers would continue to add on with another RBI single from SS Tyler Depreta-Johnson and a two-run from 1B Will Prater to make it 4-0. The Capitales would get a run back in the bottom of the frame, but Schaumburg would put on an encore in the second with three more runs, including another RBI from Depreta Johnson to make it 7-1 after two. Québec again answered the Boomers' outburst with a single run in the third, but Depreta-Johnson's bases-loaded walk in the fourth pushed the lead back out to six. Another run in the fifth would spell curtains for the Capitales, as Schaumburg came away with its second straight series win. RHP Jackson Hickert came away with the win for the Boomers, while RHP Sam Ryan got the loss for Québec.

The Boomers will travel to Trois-Rivières next to play a weekend series with the Aigles. The first pitch for Friday's game is scheduled for 7:05 PM EDT. The Capitales will travel to New York to play the Boulders on Friday at 7:00 PM EDT.

WILD THINGS SWEEP OTTERS

EVANSVILLE, IN - The Washington Wild Things defeated Evansville Otters on Thursday 6-3.

The Wild Things (12-5) made Bosse Field their home away from home, completing the series sweep of the Otters (5-13). Washington had to play from behind to start, with Evansville taking a 1-0 on a home run in the first inning. 3B Tommy Caufield tied the game in the third, scoring an RBI on a fielder's choice. The Wild Things offense came unhinged in the sixth, scoring five runs while batting around the order to make it 6-1; Caufield contributed once more with a two-run single to round out the inning. The Otters would answer for one in the sixth and another in the seventh but were unable to come out on top. RHP Zach Kirby pitched well for Washington, going 6.2 innings while giving up only three runs and striking out seven en route to his second win of the year. RHP Tristan Harvin came away with the loss.

The Wild Things will play the Florence Y'alls next, beginning their series on Friday at 7:03 PM EDT. The Otters will face off with the Gateway Grizzlies for their next series. The first pitch for their Friday opener is at 7:30 PM EDT.

VALLEYCATS BEAT TITAN FOR SERIES WIN

TROY, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats beat the Ottawa Titans 8-4 at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Thursday to win the series.

The ValleyCats (8-10) have now won their last two consecutive series, and have evened the season series with Ottawa (7-10). The Titans took off early, giving themselves a 3-0 lead headed into the bottom of the second inning. The ValleyCats responded by batting around and putting up a six spot, taking a 6-3 lead after two innings. Tri-City then padded the lead in the fourth with a solo home run by RF Demias Jimerson, the first of his career. The rookie outfielder came up with another RBI in the fifth when he took a walk with the bases loaded to make it 8-3. The Titans would tally one more score, but ultimately fell short. RHP Ronaldo Heredia-Bustos earned his first win of the season, giving up just one run in six innings out of the bullpen. LHP Bryan Pena continued his struggles for Ottawa, picking up his third loss.

The ValleyCats will continue their homestand with a series against the New England Knockouts, which will begin on Friday at 6:30 PM EDT. The Titans will travel back to Ottawa to host the ThunderBolts on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM EDT.

AIGLES WALK OFF BOLTS AGAIN TO COMPLETE THE SWEEP

TROIS-RIVIERIES, CAN. - The Trois-Rivières Aigles beat the Windy City ThunderBolts in 10 innings on Thursday night, with a final score of 5-4.

The Aigles (9-7) have now won five in a row after completing the sweep of the ThunderBolts (8-11). Trois-Rivières was able to scratch across the game's first run, with an RBI groundout in the first by 1B Dalton Combs. Both teams exchanged zeroes until the fifth when LF LP Pelletier doubled the lead with a sacrifice fly. The Bolts tied the game in the top of the sixth, only for Trois-Rivières to retake the lead on a balk in the bottom half. Windy City was able to come back to knot things up at 4-4 in the ninth and send the game into extra innings. DH Mario Feliciano was able to drive in the winning run with an RBI single in the 10th, walking off the ThunderBolts for the second time in the series. RHP Shawn Atamanchuk got the win in relief for Trois-Rivières while RHP Greg Duncan took the loss for the Bolts.

The Aigles will continue their homestand against the Schaumburg Boomers, beginning on Friday at 7:05 PM EDT. The ThunderBolts will continue their Canadian road trip with a weekend series in Ottawa. The first pitch of their Friday game against the Titans is at 6:30 PM EDT.

JACKALS COLLECT SERIES WIN AGAINST KNOCKOUTS

PATERSON, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals came away with a series win against the New England Knockouts, taking the finale 8-4 on Thursday night.

The Jackals (8-9) built a big lead in the fourth to beat the Knockouts (5-12) at Hinchcliffe Stadium. New England jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a two-run home run in the first inning. The Jackals were able to take one run back on an RBI single from DH Jordan Scott. In the third, New Jersey put together four runs on the strength of three big flies from SS Luis Acevedo, 2B Nilo Rijo, and Scott to take a 5-2 lead. Acevedo and Rijo both added RBIs in the fourth to balloon the lead to 7-2. New England would answer with another two-run bomb in the fifth, but Rijo doubled in another run in the sixth to seal the game for New Jersey. LHP Wilfredo Valenzuelas struck out seven in six innings in his win for the Jackals. RHP James Marinan took the loss after allowing seven runs in four innings.

The Jackals will play the Sussex County Miners next, with the first game of their series coming Friday at 7:05 PM EDT. The Knockouts will be hosted by the Tri-City ValleyCats for their next series. The first pitch for their Friday game is scheduled for 6:30 PM EDT.
