BOOMERS ROCK Y'ALLS IN MONDAY MATCHUP - FRONTIER DAILY ROUNDUP

WRITTEN BY: MIKE GUISTOLISE

SCHAUMBURG, IL - The Schaumburg Boomers rolled over the Florence Y'alls 13-2 in a Monday matinee at Wintrust Field.

The Boomers (24-15) made up for their loss on Sunday in the standings by taking the opener against the Y'alls (16-22). Schaumburg got on the board with a fielder's choice in the fourth inning and then made it 2-0 on DH Evan Orzech's RBI ground-rule double. In the fifth, a wild pitch brought in another run to make it 3-0 while putting another runner in scoring position, setting up CF Chase Dawson with a prime RBI opportunity. Dawson responded with a double into the right-center field gap, expanding the Boomer lead to five. Two batters later, 3B Will Prater crushed a two-run homer to right, pushing to score to 7-0. Florence was able to post two runs in the seventh, but the Boomers put the game to bed in the eighth with a six-run outburst. RHP Jackson Hickertt was solid for the Boomers, allowing only two runs through seven complete innings and striking out five in his fourth winning decision of the year. RHP Blake Loubier took the loss for Florence.

The Boomers and Y'alls will play again on Tuesday but will flip the series over to Thomas More Stadium in Kentucky. First pitch is set for 6:42 PM EDT.
