WILD THINGS OFFENSE ERUPTS LATE, BURIES NEW ENGLAND - FRONTIER DAILY ROUNDUP
WASHINGTON'S OFFENSE GOES WILD ON NEW ENGLAND
BROCKTON, MA - The Washington Wild Things ignited for 12 unanswered runs in the final three innings to win their opening game against the New England Knockouts on Tuesday.
The Wild Things (1-3) picked up their first win of the season against the Knockouts (1-3) in comeback fashion at Campanelli Stadium. Finding themselves down 5-2 with two outs in the seventh inning, 1B Andrew Czech began a rally with an RBI single to right to cut the lead to one. Czech was then brought around on a two-run double by DH Tyreque Reed to tie the game. The floodgates opened in the next inning when CF Caleb McNeely brought in two runs on a triple to left field, and then came around to score himself on an error. The eighth was capped with a two-run bomb from LF Quincy Latimore, ballooning the Washington lead to 10-5. McNeely did more damage in the ninth by crushing a three-run homer, bringing his RBI total for the game to five. RHP Justin Goossen-Brown got the win out of the bullpen for the Wild Things, his first of the year, after throwing two perfect innings in relief. RHP Brad VanAsslen took the loss for New England.
The Wild Things and the Knockouts will match up again on Wednesday in Brockton for game two of their series at 6:30 PM EDT.
Y'ALLS OUTLAST T-BOLTS IN PITCHING DUEL
CRESTWOOD, IL - The Florence Y'alls beat the Windy City ThunderBolts 1-0 in 10 innings Tuesday at Ozinga Field.
The Y'alls (3-1) came into their game against the ThunderBolts (2-3) with the highest-scoring offense in the Frontier League, averaging just under 11 runs per game. However, it took until the 10th inning for either side to score a run. Reigning Pitcher Of The Week Ryan Watson was on the mound for Florence, and the right-hander was once again brilliant. Watson tossed five scoreless innings on just three hits while striking out five, extending his scoreless streak to 10 innings to begin 2024. The Y'alls bullpen was equally as stingy as their starting pitcher, with three Florence relievers combining for five innings, only allowing two hits while preserving the shutout. Langston Ginder was subbed in as the ghost runner in the top of the 10th, advancing to third on a groundout. SS Alberti Chavez then hit a ground ball that allowed Ginder to score what ended up as the winning run. The ThunderBolts got the tying run to third in the bottom half, but could not score on LHP Kent Klyman, who picked up his first save of the year.
The Y'alls and ThunderBolts will continue their series in Crestwood Wednesday, with an 11:35 AM EDT first pitch.
CRUSHERS WALLOP JOLIET FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN
AVON, OH - The Lake Erie Crushers scored in six of the final seven innings on Tuesday to beat the Joliet Slammers 11-5.
After falling behind early, the Crushers (3-1) began to chip away at the Joliet (2-2) lead with a sacrifice fly in each of the third, fourth, and fifth innings. Lake Erie was able to tie the game after RF Jack Harris led off the sixth with a solo shot to left. After a single and two hit batters loaded the bases, 1B Scout Knotts brought in two runs with a single up the middle, giving the Crushers their first lead at 6-4. DH Vincent Byrd Jr. added another run on a sacrifice fly, only to have his run answered by Joliet in the seventh. In the eighth, Knotts once again came up to hit with the bases loaded and delivered by sending a towering blast over the left field fence for a grand slam, swelling the lead to 11-5. Knotts finished with six RBI in the game, and his eight total RBIs currently rank third in the Frontier League. LHP Cal Carver closed it out in the ninth, giving the Crushers their third straight win.
The Crushers and Slammers will meet again on Wednesday for the second game of their series. First pitch is at 12:05 PM EDT at Crusher Stadium.

The Boomers (5-0) started off hot against the ValleyCats (2-3), with DH Ryan McCarthy tripling in the second inning. CF Brett Milazzo then doubled to bring in McCarthy, beginning a stretch where Schaumburg would score in five straight innings. After Tri-City tied the game in the third, 3B Seth Gray pounded a three-run homer down the line in right to hand the Boomers a 4-1 advantage. The Boomers continued to pour on, logging 13 total hits, six of which were for extra bases. Gray finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a walk as RHP Brendan Knoll only allowed one run in his five-inning start.

AUGUSTA, NJ - The Québec Capitales scored twice in the ninth inning to pull out a 5-3 win against the Sussex County Miners on Wednesday night.
In some less-than-ideal weather conditions, the Capitales (2-2) were able to get on the board against the Miners (1-3) in the fourth inning after a CF Jonathan Lacroix single brought in two runs. RF Marc-Antoine Lebreux then came home to score after a bases-loaded walk in the fifth to put Québec up 3-0. After getting a run back in the bottom of the fifth, Sussex County scored two runs in the eighth with an RBI single and a bases-loaded walk to tie the game at 3-3. After getting two men in scoring position in the ninth, Québec SS Kyle Crowl reached base on a fielder's choice while a run came around to score. Another run scored on a Sussex County error, giving the Capitales a 5-3 lead. RHP Frank Moscatiello earned his first win on the year for the Capitales while RHP Billy Parsons took the loss for the Miners.

Trois-Rivières (3-1) jumped out to a sizeable lead against New York (2-2) at Clover Stadium, thanks to a five-run fourth inning. The Aigles were already up 2-0 when CF Raphael Gladu stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded in the fourth. Gladu was hit by a pitch, bringing in a run. The Boulders managed to get the second out of the inning before Aigles 1B Dalton Combs stepped up to the plate and smacked a grand slam over the right field wall, extending the Trois-Rivières to 7-0. New York was able to get within two runs, but RF Brandon Hupe's two-run homer in the ninth put the game away for the Aigles.
