TYREQUE REED WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JULY 15, 2024 - Tyreque Reed of the Washington Wild Things has been awarded Player of the Week.
Tyreque Reed has been on a tear since coming off the injured list on Independence Day, only having one game where he did not record a hit. The Washington designated hitter put together his best stretch of the season this past week, going 11-for-21 with three homers, nine RBIs, and three three-hit games. The game that stood out for Reed was on July 9th against the Evansville Otters, where he went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. He ended the week with .524 AVG/.583 OBP/1.000 SLG splits, leading the league during the week in home runs while only playing in five games.
Reed is the fourth Wild Thing to win a weekly award this season. The former eighth-round selection of the Texas Rangers is currently in his first season in the Frontier League and has accumulated a .337 average to go along with his five home runs and 25 RBIs. His bat adds another weapon to a Washington squad that sits in first place heading into the All-Star break.
