BOULDERS RETAIN THEIR REAL McCOY FOR 2025

BOULDERS RETAIN THEIR REAL McCOY FOR 2025

The New York Boulders announced today that they have agreed to terms with first baseman Ryan McCoy on a new contract for the upcoming 2025 Frontier League season.

The 22-year-old (bats left, throws right) joined the ballclub on August 15, 2024, shortly after graduating from the University of Louisville. He played the final 17 games of the Boulders' season, starting the first 16, and hit .365 (19-for-52) with six doubles, two home runs, and 12 runs batted in while racking up two or more base hits seven times.

McCoy's highlights included a pair of RBI doubles in his debut, a three-game hitting streak over which he batted .538 (7-for-13), and a six-game hitting streak (.450, 9-for-20), all while playing to a .981 fielding percentage.

Manager TJ Stanton is thrilled to have McCoy back in the fold, saying "Dude loves being a Boulder! We viewed Ryan as a massive priority for '25 after getting to see his style of play last summer. Adding to all that, he's a great clubhouse guy who absolutely loved his experience playing for the Boulders."

New York opens the 2025 season at home on Thursday, May 8 by welcoming the Lake Erie Crushers for a 3-game series.

Since debuting in 1993, the Frontier League has become the largest and longest running of the modern independent leagues, and features teams stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mississippi River and from the Ohio River to the St. Lawrence Seaway. In September of 2020, the Frontier League reached an agreement to become a "Partner League" with Major League Baseball.

As a "Partner League," the Frontier League and its teams meet on a regular basis with MLB representatives to discuss joint marketing and promotional opportunities, as well as collaborate on initiatives to provide organized baseball to communities throughout the United States and Canada.
