JHON VARGAS WINS PITCHER OF THE WEEK!
JUNE 2, 2024 - Right-hander Jhon Vargas of the Tri-City ValleyCats is this week's Frontier League Pitcher of the Week!
Jhon Vargas made Tri-City history on June 1st against the New England Knockouts, completing the first nine-inning complete-game shutout for the ValleyCats since August of 2022. The experienced right-hander spun a gem, only giving up five hits while punching out seven batters and earning his fourth victory of 2024. Vargas currently boasts a 4-0 record so far this season.
Vargas, a native of the Dominican Republic, is currently in his second season in the Frontier League. He had previously spent time in the Atlantic League and the American Association before coming to the Frontier in 2023. Vargas has posted a 3.85 career ERA in two seasons between the ValleyCats and Evansville Otters.
