PLAY BALL! FRONTIER LEAGUE TEAMS PARTNER WITH MLB TO HOST SEVERAL FREE EVENTS FOR KIDS

PLAY BALL Weekend is baseball's signature youth engagement activity, and the impact of 200 MLB, MiLB, and Partner League events on one weekend is a crucial piece of the program PLAY BALL Weekend Initiative.

Kids of all ages are encouraged to learn more about the game and will be provided opportunities to gain new skills in a fun environment.

As a Partner League of Major League Baseball, the Frontier League and its teams are proud to be a part of this year's Play Ball initiative. Several teams around the League have been scheduled to hold events for the community. The details of all the individual teams' events are as follows:

GATEWAY GRIZZLIES: The Gateway Grizzlies will be hosting their Play Ball event at Grizzlies Ballpark on Friday, June 14th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM CDT. There will be youth softball and baseball events hosted by players and coaches of the Grizzlies.

The event is free and for children ages 5-13. The first 100 campers will receive a FREE bat and ball set, a Grizzlies shirt, and a free ticket to that night's game. Registration includes a complimentary 2024 MLB.TV subscription, exclusive access to virtual and in-person youth baseball & softball programming.

EVANSVILLE OTTERS: The Evansville Otters will be hosting "Hit Like An Otter" at Bosse Field on Friday, June 14th from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM CDT.

This event will include the opportunity for children ages 5-12 to take batting practice just like the pros!

FLORENCE Y'ALLS: The Florence Y'alls will be hosting a Youth Camp for children ages 5-12 at Thomas More Stadium on Sunday, June 16th following their game against the Lake Erie Crushers on June 16th.

The camp includes opportunities to work at hitting and pitching stations with players from the team! All campers will receive a promotional bat from the Y'alls.

WINDY CITY THUNDERBOLTS: The Windy City ThunderBolts will be hosting a weekend of little league baseball and softball games for a local league at Ozinga Field, beginning on Friday, June 14th. 

There will be games running from 9:oo AM to 10:00 PM CDT all weekend, wrapping up on Sunday.

JOLIET SLAMMERS: The Joliet Slammers will be partnering with the Whiteford Youth Baseball organization for a special Play Ball event on Friday, June 14th.

Members of the Joliet coaching staff and community relations team will be speaking to children about the game of baseball at the Whiteford complex. All participating members from the Whiteford Baseball organization will have a chance to meet the Slammers' mascot, JL Bird, and have a chance to receive ticket vouchers and pocket schedules.

SCHAUMBURG BOOMERS: The Schaumburg Boomers will be hosting a Youth Camp event from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM CDT before their game on Saturday, June 15th against the Washington Wild Things.
Camp attendees will work stations with members of the Schaumburg roster and coaching staff on different baseball skills.

Afterward, campers will have the opportunity to watch the players take batting practice and will receive two free tickets for the game that night.

TRI-CITY VALLEYCATS: The Tri-City ValleyCats will be hosting a Play Ball event at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Saturday, June 15th from 1:30 to 3:30 PM EDT. The ValleyCats will be hosting 100 children ages 5-12 for a FREE event that includes skill-developing stations such as baserunning, fielding in the outfield, throwing, and hitting.

Tri-City players will be partnering with members of the coaching staff as well as members of the Hudson Valley Community College baseball team to run this event. SouthPaw, the ValleyCats mascot, will be in attendance.

The ValleyCats will be handing out a FREE bat and ball set from Franklin, as well as a complimentary ticket to a future Tri-City ValleyCats game.

NEW YORK BOULDERS: The New York Boulders' "Boulders in Training" event will be held on Friday, June 14th at Clover Stadium, beginning at 5:00 PM EDT. There will be four stations set up for campers ages 7-12, including target throwing and pitching.

A kickball game will also be held to simulate baserunning and fielding. The finals station will be for hitting off of a tee as well as an opportunity to hit balls thrown by a member of the New York Boulders.

SUSSEX COUNTY MINERS: The Sussex County Miners' Play Ball event will be held at Skylands Stadium on Saturday, June 15th from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.

The Miners will be holding a FREE clinic for children ages 5-12, which will include stations run by members of the team. Clinic attendees will also get a chance to watch batting practice and all pregame activities, as well as a free pass to the game against the Evansville Otters that night.
