TITANS, SANFORD REACH EXTENSION

The Ottawa Titans Baseball Club announced today the re-signing of Canadian outfielder Jake Sanford for the upcoming 2023 Frontier League season.

Sanford, 25, returns to Ottawa after an all-star campaign in 2022, where he led the club in numerous offensive categories. In 91 appearances, Sanford ranked atop the squad in hits (112), home runs (22), RBI (73), batting average (.311), and slugging percentage (.550). In the postseason, Sanford went 3-for-17 (.176) with a home run and an RBI.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to return to Ottawa and help this team take the next step," said Sanford. "It was a great year and I'm looking forward to even better things this summer."

Hailing from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Sanford was crowned Frontier League Player of the Week twice during his third professional season. The Canadian took home the honour June 7-12 after tying the Frontier League's single-game RBI record with 10 on June 11. He followed suit August 23-28 by blasting four homers in seven contests.

Drafted by the New York Yankees in the 3rd round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Western Kentucky University (Bowling Green, Kentucky), Sanford became the highest-drafted player ever from the province of Nova Scotia. In 161 career MiLB games, Sanford hit .267 with 23 homers and 88 RBI with the Yankees organization, reaching Advanced-A.

In other news, the Titans have acquired UTIL Manny Garcia from the Empire State Greys in exchange for a first-round pick in the upcoming Frontier League Draft.

Further, the team has released OF Rodrigo Orozco
