TROIS RIVIÈRES CELEBRATES ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF BASEBALL

 The Trois-Rivières Aigles and city of Trois-Rivieres celebrated 100 years of professional baseball on Thursday, August 18,2022.  

With the collaboration between the Trois-Rivières Aigles organization and the Fernand-Bédard Baseball Museum, they presented the Centennial Series with hosting the Quebec Capitales from August 16 to 18. 

Before Thursday's game, the Trois-Rivières Aigles organization hosted a pre-game ceremony to celebrate the occasion. 

The players of Trois-Rivières were also wearing vintage uniforms to celebrate the special event. 

The uniforms were in the colors of the Trio de Triois-Rivières of 1922. The first professional baseball team to have played in the city of Laviolette. The jersey's were also auctioned off after the game to raise funds for Trois-Rivières elite baseball development structure.  

During the ceremony, it featured former players and coaches of the various professional teams who played in Trois-Rivières between 1922 and 2022. 

It featured the teams and players from the Trios (1922) , the Royals (1946-1951) , and the Eagles of the Eastern League (1971-1977), to today's Trois-Rivières Aigles who have all marked the history of baseball in Trois-Rivières.  

In addition, Bob McDuff and Nicole Girard who are the promoters of the Fernand Bédard Baseball Museum, inducted Fernand Bèrdard and Marcel Guilnault into the Museum's Wall of Fame.

Fernand Bédard played in the Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies organizations before he came to Trois-Rivières in 1970 as a player and manager when the Aigles were in the provincial league. He then led the Aigles to a playoff championship and was the president of the team from 1970 to 1975 when the Aigles were a farm club for the Cincinnati Reds.  

Marcel Guilbault, who's considered one of the greatest Quebec pitchers to have worked in professional baseball.

A souvenier was also given out to the first 300 people in the stands. 

Overall, it was a very beautiful ceremony, honoring a special moment of history for the city and organization of Trois-Rivières.
