OTTAWA CONTINUES WIN STREAK AT 7 GAMES, MORE GAMES CALLED DUE TO WEATHER

Windy City vs Evansville 

The Evansville Otters (13-9) defeated the Windy City ThunderBolts (11-10) at Bosse Field on Wednesday night 4-3.

The ThunderBolts scored first in the top of the first inning on a Peyton Issacson RBI single to right field. 

Evansville would tie and take the lead in the fifth inning on a RBI double by Miles Gordon and an RBI groundout by Gary Mattis. 

Windy City would tie the game in the sixth inning on a solo home run by Jake Boone (2) and then in the top of the seventh the ThunderBolts would take the lead on a RBI double by Jarius Richards to make it 3-2. 

Evansville would tie it in the bottom of the ninth inning on a game tying solo home run by Gordon sending the game into extra innings. The Otters would walk it off on a RBI single by Zach Biermann and take the victory. 

Both Windy City and Evansville's starting pitchers would receive no decisions. 

The ThunderBolts starter Garrett Christman would allow two hits, two earned runs, two walks and strike out five batters over five innings of work. Niel Abbatiello, Justin Miller, Daniel Knight and Layne Schnitz-Paxton would come in relief. Schnitz-Paxton would take the loss giving up two hits, one run that was unearned, while failing to record one out. 

The Otters starter, Parker Brahms, allowed three hits, two earned runs, four walks and eight strikeouts through six innings of work. Jake Polancic, Samson Abernathy and Joe Riley would come in relief. Riley would take the win allowing no hits, runs, walks, or strikeouts. 

 

New Jersey Jackals vs Lake Erie 

The game between the New Jersey Jackals and Lake Erie Crushers was suspended in the bottom of the third inning at Mercy Health Stadium. The game is expected to resume on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. EDT. 

The Crushers scored first in the bottom of the second inning on a Nick Cicci two run home run to give them a 2-0 lead. 

The Jackals would retaliate with a run of their own on a RBI single by Todd Issacs in the top of the third making it 2-1. 

Jackals starter Hayden Shenefield started the game and only pitched two complete innings allowing five hits, two earned runs, no walks and two strikeouts.

The Crushers starter Gunnar Kines started the game for Lake Erie and pitched three complete innings allowing two hits, one earned run, one walk and five strikeouts. 

 

Gateway vs Schaumburg

The Schaumburg Boomers (13-9) defeated the Gateway Grizzlies (12-11) at Wintrust Field 4-1. 

The Boomers score first on an RBI groundout by Matt Bottcher followed by an RBI single by Clint Hardy to make it 2-0. They would score in the following inning on a solo home run by Nick Oddo making it 3-0. 

It would take until the top of the seventh inning for the Grizzlies to score on a solo home run by Peter Zimmerman to make it 3-1.
The Boomers would answer with a run of their own in the bottom of the seventh inning on a wild pitch.

Grizzlies starting pitcher Clint Freeman would take the loss after allowing six hits, three runs, one earned, no walks and four strikeouts through four innings. Taylor Sugg, Andrew Cartier and Colton Easterwood would come in relief.
Schaumburg's starting pitcher Ryan Middendorf took the win after allowing three hits, one earned run, four walks and 11 strikeouts through eight innings of work. Darrell Thompson would come in relief and earn the save allowing no hits or runs, one walk and three strikeouts. 

 

Florence vs Joliet

The Joliet Slammers (12-12) defeated the Florence Y'alls (7-15) at Duly Field 6-2 on Wednesday night. 

Joliet scored first in the bottom of the first inning on a solo home run by Scott Holzwasse. They would score again in the bottom of the second on a throwing error and then again in the bottom of the fourth on a two run homer by Luke Mangieri to make it 4-0. 

Florence would score in the top of the sixth inning on a RBI double to center field by Joe Lytle to make it 4-1. They would score once more in the top of the seventh on a RBI double by Ethan Stern to make it 4-2. 

The Slammers were not done as they scored two more runs in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run by Kyle Jacobsen and an RBI single by Brylie Ware to make it 6-2. 

Florence's starter, Jared Cheek, would take the loss and only throw one inning. He allowed one hit, one earned run, no walks and two strikeouts in his short start. David Stiehl, Kent Kylman and Karl Craigie would come in relief. 

Joliet's starter Cole Cook would take the win and allow six hits, two earned runs, no walks and strikeout eight batters. Chandler Brierley would come in relief and earn the save through two innings of work allowing no hits or run, one walk and one strikeout. 

 

Tri-City vs Washington

The Washington Wild Things (14-9) defeated the Tri-City ValleyCats (13-9) by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday night. 

The first 16 batters of the night were retired before the game's first baserunner. Wild Things catcher Alex Alvarez doubled off the left-center-field wall with one out in the bottom of the third to spark the offense. 

Brannen walked as the next batter against starting pitcher Aneudy Acosta but was retired on the basepaths when the lineup turned around. Nick Ward grounded to short and beat out a double-play attempt by the Cats. LG Castillo worked a walk, loading the bases for the third hitter in the order, Scotty Dubrule. Dubrule drove a ball into the right-centerfield gap that went all the way to the wall and cleared the bases to give Washington an early 3-0 lead. 

Brantley Bell responded as the ValleyCats' first batter in the fourth, mashing an opposite-field home run to score Tri-City's first run of the ball game. Juan Silverio provided the most eye-popping swing of the night, crushing a long home run over the left-field wall which cut the deficit to 3-2. Solo home runs were the name of the game for Tri-City through the first six innings. The trend continued into the seventh. McCusker joined in on the action, hitting an opposite-field home run to tie the game 3-3. 

Hayden Pearce pitched seven innings giving up three runs on six hits and struck out two opposing hitters before being replaced by right-hander Christian James, who worked two scoreless frames. Wild Things' reliever Lukas Young entered for the 10th and got a zero, stranding the international tiebreaker rule runner at second.   

Trey Cochran-Gill replaced Brac Warren, who combined with Adam Hofacket and Nunez to blank Washington after it chased starter Aneudy Acosta, to pitch the bottom of the 10th. Chris Eusay pinch ran for the last Washington batter, Andrew Czech. Hector Roa bunted Eusay over to third for the first out of the inning. Ian Walters was intentionally walked as the next batter, bringing pinch-hitter Ramon Osuna to the plate with the winning run 90-feet away. Eusay scored on a wild pitch to win the game.

 

New York vs Sussex County  

The Sussex County Miners (11-13) defeated the New York Boulders (11-12) to a score of 6-3 on Wednesday morning. 

The Miners scored three times in the second inning and added two more in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead.

In the second, Sussex County got an RBI single by Errol Robinson and a sacrifice fly from Mikey Reynolds, while another run scored when Cito Culver raced home from third base when Boulders' starting pitcher Robby Rowland uncorked a wild pitch.

Two innings later, the Miners' David Maberry blasted a solo home run, his first of the season, to make it 4-0 before Culver made it 5-0 scoring from third on an error by New York second baseman Steven Figueroa.

The teams traded runs in the seventh inning – New York's coming on a run-scoring single by Francisco Del Valle, the Miners getting one on a Martin Figueroa sacrifice fly.

The Boulders' David Vinsky added a solo home run, his third of the year, in the eighth inning; while Del Valle knocked in Giovanni Garbella, who had tripled with one away in the ninth, with a groundout that wrapped up the day's scoring.

James Mulry got the win for Sussex County, tossing 3 2/3 innings of one-run, three-hit ball, while walking one and striking out three in relief of starter Conner Dand, who was ejected for having a foreign substance on his body as the fourth inning was about to start. Mulry improved to 2-2 on the year.

Jimmy Boyce followed Mulry to the mound and went 1 1/3 innings, surrendering one run on one hit. He walked one and struck out one.

John Baker closed out the win for the Miners, allowing one run on one hit.

Rowland was tagged with the loss for New York. He went the first seven innings, allowing six runs, five earned, on eight hits. Rowland walked four and struck out two as his record fell to 2-2 on the season.   

 

Ottawa vs Trois-Rivières 

The Ottawa Titans (16-6) defeated the Trois-Rivières Aigles (9-12) on Wednesday night by a score of 6-5. 

The Aigles got on the board first in the first inning Panas hit a home run for the Aigles to make it 1-0. 

The Titans would quickly tie it in the second when Brendon Dadson doubled to make it 1-1. 

The Titans would score three runs in the fourth by scoring on a wild pitch, Dadson reaching first on an error allowing Clay Fisher to score and then Jacob Talamante grounding out to score one more. 

The Aigles would slowly start coming back with a home run off of Panas to make it 4-2 in the fourth. 

The Titans would tack on two more runs in the fifth and sixth with the help of A.J Wright homering in the fifth and having an RBI single in the sixth. 

The Aigles would attempt the comeback in the ninth by scoring three runs but ultimately it was not enough and led to their 6-5 loss. 

Zac Westcott gets the win for Ottawa while Sam Poliquin gets charged with the loss. 

 

Empire State vs Quebec 

The Quebec Capitales (19-4) defeated the Empire State Greys (0-23) by a score of 8-0 Wednesday night. 

The Capitales started their scoring spree in the second with a homerun off of T.J. White. 

They would continue in the fourth when they scored two more runs with the help of Jonathan Lacroix singled and then advanced to second on an error allowing another run to score. 

The Capitales would score their last three runs in the fifth with the Greys walking in a run and then Takamatsu having an RBI single. The Greys would throw a wild pitch to score the eighth run. 

Miguel Cienfuego gets the win for Quebec while Janisse gets charged with the loss.
