NEW SERIES START AS OTTAWA CONTINUES WINNING STREAK

Windy City vs Florence
The Windy City ThunderBolts (13-11) defeated the Flolrence Y'alls (7-17) on Friday night 18-9.

The Bolts got ahead early, scoring early with two two-run home runs by Jace Mercer and Jake Vander Wal to put them up 4-0 in the top of the second inning. Mercer would hit another two-run home run in the top of the third inning to make it 6-0. 

Florence would score four runs on a RBI fly out by Ethan Stern and a three-run home run by Joe Lytle in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to 6-4.

Windy City would respond with a huge inning five more runs in the top of the fourth inning. Daryl Myers got things started with an RBI double, followed by Jake Boone's RBI fly out. Mercer would hit an RBI triple in the inning as well and Brynn Martinez would cap the inning off with an RBI single to right field making it 11-4. 

Florence would get two runs back in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI double by Stern. 

The Bolts responded in the top of the fifth with Jarius Richards stealing home to make it 12-6. The Y'alls would score another run on an error making it 12-7 in the bottom of the sixth.

The Bolts would have one more big inning in the game in the top of the seventh would a run scoring on a passed ball, a grand slam by Payton Robertson opened the game wide open at 17-7 but Martinez added one more on a solo shot to make it 18-7. 

Florence got two last runs in the game on a two-run home run by Brennan Price to end the scoring at 18-9.
A total of seven home runs were hit in the ball game. Both teams combined to hit for the home run cycle in the ball game. 

Florence's starting pitcher Edgar Martinez took the loss and allowed nine hits, 10 earned runs, three walks and three strikeouts through three and two-thirds innings of work. Luke Williamson, Evan Brabrand and Joe Dougherty came in relief. 

Windy City's starter Miguel Ausua took the win. He allowed eight hits, six runs, five earned, five walks and four strikeouts through five innings of work. Justin Miller and Brayden Bonner came in relief. 

 

Schaumburg vs Washington 

The Washington Wild Things (16-9) shutout the Schaumburg Boomers (13-11) on Friday night 7-0. 

The Wild Things started their scoring in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI double by Jared Mang. Washington would score in the next four consecutive innings. Ian Walters brough two more runs in on his single to left field in the bottom of the fourth making it 3-0. A solo home run in the fifth inning by Andrew Chzech and a two-run homerun in the sixth by Nick Ward put Washington ahead 6-0. Czech would bat again in the seventh inning and hit his second solo home run of the day to make it 7-0.

Schaumburg's starter Kyle Arjona took the loss and allowed 10 hits, six earned runs, one walk and three strikeouts through six innings. Michael Slaten and Kristian Scott came in relief. 

Washington's starter Rob Whalen earned the win through seven innings of work allowing six hits, no runs or walks and striking out nine batters. Kenny Pierson and Christian James came in relief.

 

Joliet vs Lake Erie

The Joliet Slammers (14-12) defeated the Lake Erie Crushers (10-15) on Friday afternoon 2-1. 

The Slammers scored first in the fifth inning on a RBI fly out by JP Fullerton. They would score again in the top of the sixth inning on a Matt McGarry RBI triple to make it 2-0. 

The Crushers scored their only run in the bottom of the eighth inning on an error. 

Lake Erie's starter Joseph Sgambelluri took his first loss allowing six hits, two earned runs, walking one batter and striking out eight through six innings of work. Carter Hayes and Alexis Rivero came in relief. 

Slammers starter, Turner Larkins, earned the win. He allowed five hits, no runs or walks and struck out four batters. Cole Stanton, Chandler Brierley and Chris Roycroft came in relief. Roycroft earned the save in his two-thirds innings pitched. He recorded one strikeout.

 

Gateway vs Evansville

The Evansville Otters (15-10) defeated the Gateway Grizzlies (13-12) on Friday night 6-4. 

Gateway started the scoring in the top of the fourth inning on a Peter Zimmerman Rbi groundout followed by an RBI single to left field by Jay Prather to make it 2-0. 

Evansville would respond in the bottom of the fourth by taking the lead on a Miles Gordon two RBI single to center field, followed by a RBI fly out by Steven Sensley to take a 3-2 lead. 

Gateway would respond again in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game at three on an error. Prather would reach base on a fielder's choice and a run would score to take a 4-3 lead over the Otters. 

Evansville did not give up, in the bottom of the sixth inning, a solo home run by Jeffrey Baez would tie the game again at four runs each. Gary Mattis would give the Otters the lead once and for all on a two RBI single to center field to solidify the score at 6-4. 

Gateway's starter Carson LaRue would receive a no-decision for his three innings of work. He allowed four hits, three earned runs, four walks and struck out two batters. Andrew Cartier, Andres Rodriguez, Taylor Sugg and Matt Mulhearn all came in relief. Rodriguez would take the loss. 

Evansville's starter Briuce Stuteville would also receive a no-decision for his five innings of work. He allowed six hits, four runs, two earned, no walks and four strikeouts. Samson Abernathy, Joe Riley and Logan Sawyer all came in relief. Abernathy would take the win and Sawyer would earn the save. 

 

New York vs New Jersey

The New York Boulders (12-13) defeated the New Jersey Jackals (9-13) Friday night by a score of 9-7.

The Jackals came out on running, scoring runs in the first two innings and that was all due to base hits from Alfredo Marte, Trevor Abrams, Edward Salcedo, and Dalton Combs. 

The Boulders moved ahead 3-1 in the top of the second on a two-run single by Vinsky; but the Jackals answered with four in the bottom of the frame on RBI doubles from Salcedo and Combs, a run-scoring triple by Abrams and a double steal that saw Salcedo swipe the plate.

The Jackals would continue their offensive rally as Santiago Chirino would single into left field to bring home Josh Rehwaldt and the Jackals would take a 6-3 lead. The Boulders would cut into the lead with a base hit of their own to make the game a 6-4.

The Jackals would answer with Justin Wylie's 8th home run of the young season and take a 7-4 lead. 

The Boulders trailed 7-4 after five innings, then exploded for four runs in the sixth to take an 8-7 lead. Giovanni Garbella's solo home run, his first of the season, cut New York's deficit to 7-5. Gabriel Garcia's two-run single knotted the game at 7-7 before a Francisco Del Valle single gave the Boulders the one-run lead.

In the next inning, a David Vinsky grounder was booted by Jackals' second baseman Justin Wylie allowing Garbella to score and increase the Boulders' advantage to 9-7.

The Jackals would try to mount a comeback but the bats would go silent.

Zach Schneider, the third pitcher used by the Boulders, got the win with four scoreless innings of relief to close out the game. He allowed two hits and struck out four as he leveled his season mark at 1-1.

Jorge Tavarez started for New Jersey and lasted 5 2/3 innings, surrendering nine hits and eight runs. 

 

Sussex County vs Trois-Rivières 

The Trois-Rivières Aigles (10-12) defeated the Sussex County Miners (12-14) by a score of 5-3 on Friday night. 

The Aigles got the scoring started in the first when Raphael Gladu hit an RBI single. 

Canice Ejoh would also have an RBI single to make it 2-0 at the end of the first inning. 

The Miners would get their first run on a passed ball that allowed Errol Robinson to score.  

The Miners would tie it up in the fifth, when Mikey Reynolds hit a homerun to make the score 2-2. 

The Miners would take the lead in the seventh off an RBI single from Nilo Rijo to make it 3-2. 

However, the Aigles would respond and regain the lead with a homerun off of Desai and a wild pitch to make the score 4-3. 

The Aigles would score their final run in the game in the eighth with another RBI off of Desai to lead to their 5-3 win. 

Mark Tindall would get the win for Trois-Rivières while Kyle Thomas got the save. Jimmy Boyce got charged with the loss for the Miners.

 

Empire State vs Ottawa 

The Ottawa Titans (17-6) defeated the Empire State Greys (0-24) by a score of 3-1 on Friday night. 

Clay Fisher helped the Titans get on the board first by getting an RBI groundout to score one in the second. 

Jason Dicochea would then have an RBI single to make the game 2-0.

The Titans would add their final run in the third when Tyrus Greene hit an RBI double down the line to make it 3-0. 

The Greys would attempt a comeback in the ninth with an RBI single from Tyler Hill but ultimately would not be enough to lead their loss. 

Chis Burica got the win for the Titans while Kevin Escorcia got the save. 

Tom Derer got charged with the loss for the Greys.  

 

Quebec vs Tri-City  

The Quebec Capitales (20-4) defeated the Tri-City ValleyCats (13-11) by a score of 8-7 on Friday night.

The second outing at The Joe did not start as planned for Rocker, who walked David Glaude to lead off the game. The right-hander would go on to hit two batters, but was able to work his way out of trouble, not allowing a Capitales runner to cross the plate.

The ValleyCats would strike for the first runs of the game, as Brantley Bell would single home Jesus Lujano. Bell would advance to second on a Denis Phipps single, and the pair would execute a double steal putting the runners on second and third for Juan Silverio. The 'Cats third baseman would ground out to Kyle Crowl at second base, plating Bell. The ValleyCats threat would end there, as Phipps got caught between third and home trying to follow Bell. 

The home half of the second inning had three more runs in store for Tri-City. RBI singles from Daniel Angulo, and Juan Santana would plate a pair, Brantley Bell would collect his second RBI of the night on a sacrifice fly that brought Jonah Girand around to score, giving Tri-City a 5-0 lead. The 'Cats would add a sixth run to their lead on Pavin Parks' fifth home run of the season. A screaming line drive that cleared the fence in right center field.

Rocker would pitch three innings, striking out five and walking just one while not giving up a run. 

Quebec would get on the board for the first time in the top of the fourth inning on a two-run homer from Garrett Takamatsu, who sent an Alexander Guillen fastball over the fence in right center, cutting the lead to 6-2 in favor of Tri-City. The Capitales would make it a two-run ball game in top of the fifth inning, plating a run on a double from Kyle Crowl, and the second run coming via a ground out off the bat of Jonathan Lacroix.

After the 'Cats got a run back in the fifth, it was all Capitales. Quebec catcher Reece Yeargain, who entered the game after Jeffry Parra left with an apparent injury, would reach to lead off the top of the seventh inning on a throwing error by Juan Silverio, allowing him to advance to second after the ball skipped past Brantley Bell at first. The backstop would advance to third on a passed ball that got by ValleyCats catcher Jonah Girand. Yeargain would score on an RBI groundout from Kyle Crowl off of Trey Cochran-Gill. Bringing the ValleyCats lead to just one.

The 'Cats bats would go silent in the seventh and the eighth, taking a 7-5 lead into the top of the ninth. 

Adam Hofacket would enter to try to shut the door on Quebec. The Capitales would reach base on the first two pitches thrown by the right hander, a single by James McAdams and a double by Yeargain, putting runners on second and third with nobody out. T.J. White would be sat down on strikes by Hofacket for the first out of the inning. But after the strike out, Hofacket would misplay a throw back to the mound from Girand, allowing McAdams to score on the blunder, bringing the Capitales within one run. Takamatsu would give the road team the lead on a two-RBI single.

Daniel Angulo would double with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but would be stranded at third to end the game.
