AIGLES TEAM MVP RETURNING TO TROIS-RIVIÈRES

AIGLES TEAM MVP RETURNING TO TROIS-RIVIÈRES

Trois-Rivières Aigles' manager Matthew Rusch kicked off the offseason with a bang by securing the services of last summer's most valuable player, outfielder Louis-Philippe Pelletier, for the 2023 season.

The quintessential spark plug for the Birds, Pelletier had a terrific offensive season, shattering franchise records for batting average (.340), doubles (31) and runs scored (81). His brilliance even earned him an invite to the Frontier League All-Star Game in Washington, Pennsylvania.

"It is an honor for me to defend the colors of the Eagles and it is with great enthusiasm that I will be back at Stade Quillorama next summer, with the objective of leading our team to the championship! ", mentions the 26-year-old Quebecer.

Pelletier will begin his third season in the Frontier League after donning the Équipe Québec uniform in 2021 and that of the Aigles in 2022. In 175 games in this circuit, he maintained a batting average of .334 in addition to slamming 239 hits, including 58 doubles and 21 home runs, and scored 166 runs. To these stats, he also added 63 stolen bases.

For manager Rusch, who will begin his second campaign as manager of the Aigles in 2023, there was no doubt that his training would be orchestrated around his spectacular outfielder.

"LP is a must for our team. He's a star player who does everything very well on the field in addition to being a fan favourite. We are happy to be able to rely on him to build our training."

As for President René Martin, he is delighted to be able to count on the return of Pelletier as headliner. "The fans love him. He's going to be the focal point of our team image. It will still be very exciting to be able to see him at work here, in Trois-Rivières."

The Aigles' training camp will get under way towards the end of April for the franchise's second season in the Frontier League. The first game is scheduled for May 12 as the Aigles visit the Tri-City ValleyCats. Then, the local opening will take place on May 23 when the Lake Erie Crushers will be at Stade Quillorama.
