FL RECORD HOLDERS CRAIG AND DAWSON RETURNING TO SCHAUMBURG

The Schaumburg Boomers and Manager Jamie Bennett are excited to announce the re-signing of two players who set Frontier League records in 2022 along with two other contributors to their Championship Series run.

The 2022 season was a special season for Alec Craig; who was able to improve on his already impressive 2022 season. During the 2023 season Craig, originally from Sicklerville, NJ, posted a .267 batting average with a .431 on base percentage. The elevated on base percentage was due to his Frontier League record 92 walks. The prior season Craig amassed, a then record, 76 walks. Along with the walks and average, Alec hit 8 homeruns and drove in 44 while playing in all 96 games.

Schaumburg Boomers Manager, Jamie Bennett, had this to say about the re-signing of Alec Craig. "Very excited to have Alec back with us. Alec plays with an edge that he brings to the ballpark every day. His versatility on defense and his ability to create things offensively are a big part to the success we've had the last couple of seasons at Wintrust Field"

Chase Dawson returns to the Boomers fresh off a historic season in 2022 in which he batted .310 with 5 homeruns with 64 RBI's. More notably, Chase set the Frontier League record with a staggering 24 triples in 95 games. The previous record was 16 triples, set in 2006 by Chris Sidick. Chase set the record in only 51 games. Over his career, Dawson has 34 three baggers. To go along with these stats, Chase stole 23 bases when he wasn't hitting triples. The Chesterton, IN native looks to add to his stats as he leads the team on to the field in 2023 at Wintrust Field.

"I am extremely excited to have Chase back with us. He brings something to the table every day. Versatility on defense, power, speed… He can do it all. He plays the game the right way and loves being on the field. He is a great teammate and true professional" said Manager Jamie Bennett.

Wyatt Stapp signed with the Boomers during the middle of the 2022 season after graduating from the University of Cincinnati. Wyatt played for the Bearcats for 4 seasons. Stapp had 4 solid seasons where he averaged .290 and drove in 98 runs. Over the 4 seasons, Wyatt only committed 5 errors in his time with the Bearcats. In his limited games with the Boomers in 2022, Wyatt his .333 while drawing 11 walks over 50 plate appearances.

Miguel Reyes Jr came to the Boomers during the middle of the season like Wyatt. Miguel played his college ball at the University of New Mexico for 3 seasons. During his time at UNM, Reyes threw 47 innings while striking out 39 batters, After his time at New Mexico and before the Boomers, the Lafayette, LA native pitched for the Rockford Rivets of the Northwoods League, where he went 3-0 with a 3.57 ERA. He had 21 strikeouts in 22 and 2/3 innings. With the Boomers he had 16 punchouts over 17 innings.
