MULTIPLE TEAMS SWEEP AS OTTAWA'S WIN STREAK GOES TO FIVE

Ottawa vs New Jersey

The Ottawa Titans (23-7) defeated the New Jersey Jackals (12-18) on Sunday afternoon by a score of 7-4.

Rodrigo Orozco of the Titans got things started in the top of the second with a solo homerun to right center, but the Jackals barked back with an RBI single from catcher Zak Whalin in the bottom half of the inning to tie the score at one run a piece.

Runs began pouring in for Ottawa in the top of the fourth as Andrew Martinez, Jackie Urbaez, and A.J. Wright all had RBI doubles of their own, with the lead for the Titans opening up to 6-1. The action would halt until Josh Rehwaldt drove in Justin Wylie to cut the deficit for New Jersey to four runs.

There was nearly a comeback in the midst for New Jersey in the bottom of the ninth as Jason Agresti and Justin Wylie both drove in RBI to get within three runs of Ottawa, but it would not be enough.

Tyler Jandron made his seventh start of the season for Ottawa as he allowed four hits, struck out four Jackals, and put together his third outing with no earned runs. Jandron would nearly go the distance as manager Bobby Brown did not pull his starter until the eighth inning, where Gavin Sonnier took over with a line of one inning pitched, two hits, one strikeout, and one earned run.

Kevin Escorcia finished out the game for Ottawa with two strikeouts and two runs allowed in one inning of work.

For the Jackals, Joan Gregorio made his first start of the season after two previous relief outings earlier in the year.
