DETROIT TIGERS SIGN FRONTIER LEAGUE MVP
The Schaumburg Boomers are pleased to announce that the Detroit Tigers have signed 2021 Frontier League MVP and two time All-Star Quincy Nieporte.
Nieporte was a member of the Schaumburg Boomers from 2019 to 2021 and the Frontier League Championship team during the 2021 season. During the 2021 season, Nieporte batted .331 with 17 home runs and 69 RBIs in 69 games for the Boomers, followed by a .344 average with two home runs and nine RBI in the playoffs. Nieporte then joined the High Point Rockers in the Atlantic League for the remainder of their season.
The Boomers have now had five players and a pitching coach from the 2021 Frontier League Championship team go to MLB organizations: Quincy Nieporte (Tigers), Aaron Rozek, Isaiah Rivera, Orlando Rodriguez (Twins), and Connor Reed (Brewers). Nieporte is the eighth Frontier League player from the 2021 season to sign with a MLB club in the past two months.
"I couldn't be more excited for Quincy. His numbers over the last couple of seasons speak for themself. He has continued to work everyday to make himself better. He is very deserving of this opportunity and I'm excited to see him continue his career at the next level," said Manager Jamie Bennett.
The Boomers return home to Wintrust Field in the spring looking to defend their 2021 Frontier League Championship.
