FORMER BLUE JAYS PITCHER GUTIERREZ JOINS TROIS-RIVIÈRES

The Trois-Rivières Aigles have added pitcher Osman Gutierrez for the 2022 season. The Nicaraguan played for six years in teams affiliated with the Toronto Blue Jays in Major League Baseball.

The 27-year-old racked up 255 strikeouts in 279 innings pitched during his time with the Toronto affiliates. He also wore his country's colors in qualifying for the 2021-2022 Baseball World Cup.

"Gutierrez is an experienced gunner who has a great fastball. He will certainly be a great help to come and solidify our relief at the end of the match. He can also act as a starting pitcher if necessary," comments Matthew Rusch, manager of the Aigles de Trois-Rivières.

Gutierrez came highly recommended by a Minor League Baseball coordinator: "Luis Alen, minor league pitching coordinator for the Arizona Diamondbacks, speaks highly of Osman. He will definitely be an asset to our roster for the upcoming season," added Rusch.

The 6'4'' pitcher will be in his first year in independent baseball. He will report to the Aigles de Trois-Rivières training camp in May.
