CRUSHERS SHORTSTOP SIGNS WITH DIAMONDBACKS ORGANIZATION

The Lake Erie Crushers, who are presented by Akron Children's Hospital, announced today that Crushers Shortstop Jarrod Watkins has been signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks organization.

Watkins, who played his college baseball at Central Michigan University and Indiana State University played 13 games for the Crushers this season, hitting .340 with 2 home runs and 7 runs batted in.

Watkins is the 4th Crushers Player to be signed during 2022, following Pitcher J.T. Perez who was signed by the Detroit Tigers in February, Catcher Karl Ellison who was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies in March, and Pitcher Dillon Larsen who was signed by the Diamondbacks earlier this month.

"Jarrod Watkins is an outstanding young man and a fine baseball player", stated Crushers Manager Cam Roth. "He's a great teammate both on and off the field and we are thrilled that he will have this opportunity to show what he can do at the next level."

The Crushers are 7 and 7 on this young season, wrapping up a 9-game homestand today against the Empire State Greys at Mercy Health Stadium. They return to Avon on Tuesday June 7th to kick off a 6-game homestand against the New Jersey Jackals and Joliet Slammers.
