Y'ALLS RESIGN 7 PLAYERS

Y'ALLS RESIGN 7 PLAYERS

The Florence Y'alls have been updating their roster recently and have resigned 7 players from the 2022 season for next year!

We welcome back Edgar Martinez, Jonaiker Villalobos, Bobby Brabrand, Jake McMahill, Ray Zuberer III, Brennan Price, and Griffin Baker, who was just announced today.

We can't wait to see what these guys bring next year!

After his final season at Belmont Abbey College, Griffin Baker tried out at the Frontier League tryouts and we selected him with our first pick in the draft following the tryouts. He made an immediate impact with getting the win in his first start only allowing 1 run and dealing 7 Ks in 5 innings of work. He would continue to post a 4-1 W/L record in his first 5 starts and was a solid contributor to our pitching rotation.

Edgar Martinez has re-signed to return to Florence and Pitch for his 3rd season as a Y'all. He has struck out 175 batters in his time with the Y'alls thus far (Most among Y'alls Pitchers over that duration).

Venezuelan lefty Jonaiker Villalobos will be coming back for his 3rd season as a Y'all. In 2022, Jonaiker finished first among Y'alls pitchers in: Games Started (19), Wins (6), Innings Pitched (101.1) & Strikeouts (86).

Evan "Bobby" Brabrand is heading back to Florence for his second year as a Y'all. In year one he started as a reliver and ended up finding a significant role in the starting rotation. Bobby's 33 appearances & 64.0 innings pitched were third on the team last year; while he also was the only Y'alls pitcher to register a complete game pitched in 2022.

On June 15th, we signed Jake McMahill following his final season at Missouri State University. Where he was the winning pitcher in MSU's tournament game having 7 Ks in 4.2 relief innings. During his short run with the Y'alls, Jake started 4 games, 2 of which he recorded double digit strikeouts in under 7 innings of work. On July 8th, McMahill was signed by the Cincinnati Reds and had 3 appearances in the Arizona Complex League, keeping a 0.00 ERA and 3 Ks.

Kentucky's own Ray Zuberer will be returning for his second season in Florence. During his rookie campaign he was an integral piece to our lineup hitting a team leading 28 doubles while also hitting 12 HR's & driving in 52 RBI's (both 2nd on the team). He was a rock in the Outfield as well as filling in at 3rd on multiple occasions.

Brennan Price will be heading back to the 859 for his second season. In his first year with the Y'alls all he did was lead the team in HRs (24), RBIs (91) which was also 2nd in the Frontier League & OPS (1.020). This 2022 Frontier League All-Star, was drafted as a Pitcher in the 2016 MLB draft in the 29th round to the Milwaukee Brewers. Price has now found his way as one of THE BEST all-around hitters in the FL while having 20 Doubles and 2 Triples paired with his 24 Homeruns last season.
