QUÉBEC & TROIS-RIVIÈRES TO HOLD TRYOUT IN FRANCE

QUÉBEC & TROIS-RIVIÈRES TO HOLD TRYOUT IN FRANCE

The manager of the Capitales de Québec, Patrick Scalabrini, will drop off his bags in Rouen next March when the very first evaluation camp supervised by North American professional teams on European soil will be held.  Les Aigles de Trois-Rivières will participate in the workout along with the Capitales.  Both clubs have committed to inviting at least one player to their 2024 spring training, which begins in May.

The emergence of talent on the Old Continent is not sudden as several European players have set foot on the Stade Canac pitch in recent years. Capitales fans will particularly remember Dutchman Kalian Sams who hit 23 home runs in 2017. In addition to Sams, French players Rene Leveret and Maxime Lefèvre also donned the striped uniform. Europe was also proudly represented at the last World Baseball Classic as the Netherlands, Great Britain, Italy and the Czech Republic all achieved one or more victories during the tournament. Baseball is booming in these countries and France is no exception.

For the manager of the Capitales, it is an opportunity to expand his repertoire of players: "We are very excited to hold this evaluation camp in Rouen. We know there are a lot of athletes and talents in Europe. We want to be able to offer some of them the opportunity to evolve at the professional level in North America." For the leaders of the Rouen Huskies, the team organizing the camp, it is a golden opportunity for players from the region and Europe: "The camp is open to all players. Some will try to reach the moon, others may come for the experience and to test themselves."

More precisely, it is on March 30 and 31 that the evaluation camp will be held in Rouen. This initiative reinforces both teams' commitment to being leaders in independent baseball.

Registration information for the event is can be found here.

The deadline to register is March 28, 2024.
