TWO PITCHERS ARE ADDED TO THE AIGLES ARSENAL
Trois-Rivières Aigles manager Matthew Rusch has given himself two more options on the mound by signing right-handed rookie pitchers Luke Fitton and Julian Tymochko.
Fitton, a 6-foot-6 American right-hander, played briefly with the Joliet Slammers last year in the Frontier League, after stints in the summer collegiate leagues MLB Draft League and Northwoods League.
An Illinois native, Fitton also played two NCAA seasons with University of Illinois-Springfield, hitting 35 strikeouts in 31.1 innings of work and maintaining a 5.46 ERA.
"Fitton is a very interesting prospect. He is very effective with his high velocity shots. Several major league scouts are watching him and we hope he will be able to fit into our rotation of starters," notes the Aigles manager.
As for Tymochko, he spent the last two seasons in the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL). In 85 innings of work divided between the formations of Edmonton (2021) and Okotoks (2022), the Canadian from Toronto compiled a record of 9 wins and 5 losses, while passing 95 batters in the mitt.
"Tymochko is a young pitcher that we want to add to our bullpen. His potential is interesting but he will have to earn his playing time on the mound. He will also have to adjust to the level of play among the professionals," adds Rusch.
Fitton and Tymochko's signings on the mound join those of Osman Gutierrez, Tucker Smith, Nick Garcia, Samuel Poliquin, Ryan Campbell and Jacob Stobart heading into the 2023 campaign.
The Aigles' training camp will get under way towards the end of April for the franchise's second season in the Frontier League. The first game is scheduled for May 12 as the Aigles visit the Tri-City ValleyCats. Then, the local opening will take place on Tuesday, May 23 when the Lake Erie Crushers will be at Stade Quillorama.
