JACKALS BARNUM PICKS UP PLAYER OF THE WEEK, CAPITALES DELLINGER WINS PITCHER OF THE WEEK.

JACKALS BARNUM PICKS UP PLAYER OF THE WEEK, CAPITALES DELLINGER WINS PITCHER OF THE WEEK.

May 29, 2023 - For the first time this season, the player of the week award is heading east, thanks to a torrid week from New Jersey Jackal Keon Barnum.

The former White Sox first round pick drove in six runs on eight hits, three of which were HRs, and slugged 1.063 with a .500 batting average.

The 6'5 power hitting first baseman started the week hot with a 2-4 night against Evansville on Tuesday and didn't look back.

On Wednesday the man from Tampa broke loose in a big way, reaching base five times, picking up four RBI and sending two HRs deep into the New Jersey night.

The next night the Evansville pitching staff steered well clear of Barnum as he walked three times and scored a run as the Jackals ended the series with a win.

Barnum stayed hot going into the weekend with another two hit night on Friday as the Jackals picked up the opener against Ottawa.

The Titans pitching staff took a page out of the Otters playbook, walking Barnum four times over the course of the weekend trying to keep his bat quiet, he still managed to add another HR to his tally for the week as the Jackals picked up a series win.

This week's pitcher of the week award heads north to our defending champs, thanks to the performance of Capitales righty Jack Dellinger.

The former Virginia Tech hokie and Detroit Tigers farmhand gave Capitales manager Pat Scalabrini seven innings of two hit ball while striking out nine Empire State Greys and allowing no runs.

Dellinger, the 952nd pick in the 2019 MLB draft, worked efficiently, needing only 76 pitches to get through seven innings of work; Quebec's lineup gave him plenty of support as he picked up his first win of the young season in a 8-1 victory over the Greys.

Quebec now makes the trip to Sussex county, Dellinger will likely be on the bump for Thursday night's contest against the Miners.
