WILD THINGS PETERSON WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK, BOULDERS SOSA WINS PITCHER OF THE WEEK

JULY 7TH, 2023 - Tristan Peterson is this week's Frontier League Player of the Week. The former Washington State Cougar led the league with 13 runs batted in since last Monday.

Peterson and the Wild Things started the week by scoring 22 runs across a day-night doubleheader Wednesday against the Boulders.

The 6'2, 225 pound righty drove in three on two hits including a HR as Washington fell 10-9 in game one.

In game two, Washington enacted revenge on the Boulders to the tune of a 13-2 thumping. Peterson stayed scalding hot, going 3-4 with a HR, knocking in four runs and scoring three himself.

The next day Peterson picked up two more RBI as Washington dropped the rubber match 11-10.

Heading into the weekend with a streak of multi-rbi games in hand, Peterson and the Wild Things returned home to host the Schaumburg Boomers.

On Friday night, the Tucson, Arizona native collected another two RBI while Schaumburg took the opener.

Peterson cooled off Saturday but likely won't care as Washington was able to level the series.

Come Sunday, Peterson picked up two more RBI and another double as the Wild Things took the game and the series in dramatic fashion.

This week's Frontier League Pitcher of the Week is July Sosa. The 6'3, 240 pound right hander is a Bronx native and played his college ball at Faulkner University. Sosa is the second award winner from Faulkner this season, joining Rusber Estrada.

T.J Stanton entrusted Sosa with securing his 299th win as a manager and Sosa did not disappoint. Sosa allowed only one unearned run as he needed 123 pitches to rack up nine strikeouts and a complete game.

Sosa earned the win as the Boulders beat the Crushers 3-1. Sosa moves to 3-1 on the year with a 3.07 ERA and 1.2 WHIP.

Sosa is next slated to get the ball Friday night in Florence, Kentucky against the Y'alls.
