BOULDERS KWITZER WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK, WILD THINGS FREGIO WINS PITCHER OF THE WEEK.

AUGUST 7TH, 2023 - The Frontier League player of the week for the first week of August is Chris Kwitzer of the New York Boulders.

The utility man and former Buffalo Bull standout posted a .455 batting average and 1.429 ops with two home runs and nine runs batted in.

The Boulders started their week with a trip to Ottawa. Tuesday's game went the Titans way despite a big performance from Kwitzer, he chipped in two hits including a home run and drove in three runs. He also stole a base as the Boulders lost 8-5.

The next day, Kwitzer found himself in the leadoff spot and did not disappoint, he went 2 for 5 with two more runs batted in, he also scored a run and walked as the Boulders romped to a 14-0 victory.

After a rainout Thursday, the Boulders welcomed the Aigles to town for a weekend set. On Friday, Kwitzer went 2 for 4 as the Boulders lost 7-4. He also added another walk, rbi and run scored.

On Saturday, Kwitzer dropped back to the five hole but it didn't seem to bother him as he posted another 2 for 4 outing, adding two more RBI and another run scored as the Boulders leveled the series.

Come Sunday, Kwitzer added another two hit game and another RBI as the Boulders took the series.

Next, Kwitzer and the Boulders welcome the ValleyCats to town for a midweek set with playoff implications.

The Frontier League pitcher of the week for the first week of August is Dariel Fregio of the Washington Wild Things.

The 6'2, 205 righty from Wesley Chapel, Florida went eight innings Friday night at home versus the Gateway Grizzlies, striking out six while only allowing five baserunners. Fregio needed 120 pitches to navigate eight innings of the tough Grizzlies lineup.

Lukas Young came in and nailed down the save for the Wild Things while Fregio got the win to bring him to 2-1 on the season with a 2.89 ERA.

Fregio will likely make his next start on Thursday in Lake Erie against the Crushers.
