NEW ENGLAND ADDS FROMER MARINERS PROSPECT REEVES MARTIN

The New England Knockouts have signed right-handed pitcher Reeves Martin to a Frontier League contract. Martin was a professional free agent prior to signing.

Martin, 27 years old, brings plenty of high-caliber experience to the Knockouts. His professional career began in 2019, joining the Seattle Mariners in the 21st round of the MLB Draft. Martin would work his way through A and low A, pitching just under 28 innings in the summer of 2019. After the major portions of the COVID-19 pandemic, Martin joined the AAA Tacoma Rainiers. He played 6.2 innings before retiring to pursue a career in coaching. He carries a career MiLB record of 3-2 with a 4.46 ERA.

Before being drafted, Martin played collegiate baseball with the University of New Orleans. During his three seasons with the team, Martin soared to the top of UNO's history books. He finished with a career ERA of 3.07, posting over 150 strikeouts in nearly 90 appearances. Martin also started six games for the Privateers.

The bullpen specialist earned countless accolades while pitching for New Orleans. Martin earned national All-American status, along with First-Team Southland Conference and All-Academic honors. Martin was also named First-Team All-State (LA) during his time. To put the frosting on the cake, he was named a Top 50 player in UNO baseball history. Martin managed to break the program records for career saves (26), saves in a season (14), and career appearances (88).

Martin is a native of Tampa, Florida. He attended Tampa Catholic High School, where he was a three-year letterwinner in baseball. Martin also posted a 0.65 ERA during his senior year, earning him All-Conference honors.

The Knockouts are set to open their inaugural season on Friday, May 10th against the Ottawa Titans. Tickets for opening day can be purchased at https://tickets.knockoutsbaseball.com.
