GREYS GARCIA, GRIZZLIES EASTERWOOD WIN WEEKLY AWARDS
JULY 10TH, 2023 - Manny Garcia of the Empire State Greys is this week's Frontier League Player of the Week. Garcia, who played his college ball at Louisiana Tech, posted a .500 batting average over 24 at bats.
Garcia and the Greys started the week with a 7-2 win over Tri-City. Hitting in the five hole, Garcia went 3-5 with two runs batted in. On Wednesday he stayed hot with two more hits, including a HR and two runs batted in.
On Thursday, Garcia went 3 for 4 with an RBI as Empire State dropped the rubber match to a red hot ValleyCats team.
On Friday and Saturday he added two more hits, before finishing the week with a 2 for 4 outing on Sunday.
This week's Frontier League Pitcher of the Week is Colton Easterwood of the Gateway Grizzlies. Easterwood is the first relief pitcher to win the award this season.
This week, the closer from Troy, Tennessee earned three saves, while striking out seven of the ten batters he faced. He did not allow a hit or a run enroute to nailing down the three saves. He allowed one baserunner on a base on balls.
