FAN FAVORITE DALTON COMBS RETURNING TO TROIS-RIVIÈRES

The Trois-Rivières Aigles are excited to announce the return of another crowd favourite to their roster for the 2024 season: Dalton Combs!

For the experienced outfielder and first baseman, this will be his second season in a Trois-Rivières uniform.

Manager Matthew Rusch said he's thrilled to have Combs on board in the season opener. "Dalton is an exceptional player. He is a complete athlete who combines power, average, speed and a sense of the game. There's not a single weakness in his game," said the Trois-Rivières skipper.

"His return to our lineup is a great addition offensively, defensively, but also in terms of leadership. I'm very happy that he's back. He told me he really enjoyed his experience in Trois-Rivières last year and is very happy to be back at the stadium next summer!" Rusch adds.

In June 2023, Combs, 29, was acquired in a trade from the New Jersey Jackals for reliever Tyler Luneke. As soon as he arrived in Trois-Rivières, the Monroe, Indiana native quickly became a crowd favourite with his explosive style and enthusiasm on the court.

In 63 games with the Birds last summer, Combs batted .321 while collecting 74 hits – including 8 home runs – and driving in 44 runs.

A 35th round pick of the San Francisco Giants in 2017, Combs has played 133 games in affiliated baseball, reaching Triple-A in 2019. Since then, he has worked his way up in independent baseball, with stints in the Frontier League, the Mexican League and the Washington League.

Combs' signing joins two other Trois-Rivières crowd favorites, outfielder Louis-Philippe Pelletier and pitcher Osman Gutierrez.

The Aigles will begin their 11th season history – their 3rd in the Frontier League – on May 10, 2024 when they visit the Sussex County Miners. As for the home opener at Stade Quillorama, it is scheduled for May 17, 2024 against the new team of the circuit, the New England Knockouts.
