SECOND FORMER MAJOR LEAGUER SIGNED BY THE AIGLES.

After Jesen Therrien at the beginning of the season, the Trois-Rivières Aigles have added a second Major League Baseball alumnus to their ranks! Manager Matthew Rusch has reached an agreement with Venezuelan-born catcher Oscar Hernandez. The 29-year-old Hernandez played a total of 26 games in the majors during his career. In addition to appearing in 4 games with the Kansas City Royals, as recently as 2020, he also appeared in a Arizona Diamondbacks uniform for 22 games in 2015 and 2016.

In addition to his big league experience, Hernandez also appeared in 549 games MiLB including 102 games at the AAA level. "He's a veteran who played in the majors. A lot is expected of him this season. His career is impressive. He's a guy who understands the game well. He's played in Venezuela in the last few years and I'm very excited that he's willing to join us. I wanted to have a veteran behind the plate. I am convinced that he will deliver the goods and that we will allow him to return to affiliated baseball, "said the manager of the Aigles. Hernandez will be one of four veterans — the maximum allowed by the Frontier League — on manager Matthew Rusch's roster, along with Steve Brown, Juan Kelly and Jesen Therrien. The Aigles' new catcher will be in uniform on Tuesday as the Birds host the New York Boulders for a three-game series.
