Jackals vs Capitales
The New Jersey Jackals will lift the curtain on the 2023 Frontier League East Division Series tonight at 7:05pm at Skylands Stadium. After a dominating performance by Jorge Tavarez in the Wild Card round, New Jersey will turn to David Lebron for game one of this best-of-three game series. Keon Barnum also performed well in the Wild Card round, going 3-4 with a home run. Quebec, who won the East division on a walk-off on the last day of the regular season, will counter with Abdiel Saldana on the mound. The Capitales went 6-3 against the Jackals, including two walk-off victories.
After a season that saw the Capitales be last in the East division and then first it's safe to say that it was a rollercoaster of emotions for the players and the fans in Quebec City. To start the 2023 Frontier League playoffs the Caps are traveling to New Jersey to square off against the power hitting lineup of the New Jersey Jackals. Quebec will turn to the Pitcher of the year in the organization, the always reliable Abdiel Saldana. The native of David in Panama finished the regular season with 7 wins, 2 losses and a ERA of 1.72. The newcomers and ex majors leaguers Jesmuel Valentin and Greg Bird will play a major role for the Capitales as they come in to replace key players. First game tonight at 7:05 PM !
