CAPITALES PUT UP 14 UNANSWERED RUNS TO EVEN SERIES

After falling behind 2-0, the Quebec Capitales' offense exploded for 14 unanswered runs to cruise to a 14-2 victory over the New Jersey Jackals in game 2 of the East Divisional Series at Stade Canac on Saturday night.

New Jersey took the lead in the top of the 4th by a Josh Rehwaldt home run.  The Jackals manufactured another run in the top of the 5th.  Phil Ervin walked, stole second, advanced to third on a James Nelson single, then scored on a sacrafice fly by Keon Barnum.

Quebec resonded in the bottom of the 5th on back-to-back doubles from T.J. White and Jonathan Lacroix followed by a single from Ruben Castro.

The Capitales put the game away with a 10-run sixth inning.  The first eight batters all reached base safely, aided by a hit batter to start the frame, a strikeout featuring an error allowing the runner to reach safely, two walks, and two wild pitches.  A Greg Bird grand slam followed immediately by a Juremi Profar home run completed the scoring.

Bird and Profar each had four hits for Quebec, while all nine players in the starting lineup scored at least once.

Steven Fuentes earned the victory with a quality start, while Cody Whiten took the loss in relief for New Jersey.

The deciding game 3 is scheduled for 5:05 PM today with Ruben Ramirez looking to send Quebec back to the Frontier League Championship Series.
