CAPITALES NAME T.J. WHITE PLAYER/COACH

A veteran player much loved by fans will return for the summer of 2023 with the Capitales, with all new responsibilities as well. Indeed, the always smiling TJ White has just signed a contract for a 4th season with the Capitales de Québec, this time in the role of player-coach. He will therefore support Patrick Scalabrini as a batting instructor with his teammates, a role which was occupied in the summer of 2022 by Josh McAdams. He will also continue his work on defense, where his versatility allows him to occupy any postition in the infield. He will of course be the designated hitter of the lineup when necessary.

A former Minnesota Twins prospect, TJ White played his first season in Québec in 2018, after five seasons with various Twins affiliates. Through his work ethic, his prowess on the field and his permanent smile, he quickly won the hearts of baseball fans in the Old Capital, and vice versa. Traded to the Aigles de Trois-Rivières for David Glaude after the 2019 season, he never put on the red and black uniform due to COVID-19. After the pandemic break and the Equipe Québec season, in which he did not participate, TJ White finally returned to Québec in 2022, to the delight of fans.

With 75 RBIs, 26 home runs and an average of .296 last season, the Las Vegas native had his best campaign since playing with the Capitales. Long in friendly competition with Jeffry Parra for the number of homers hit, the two players played a very important role in the team's fabulous season last summer. Patrick Scalabrini tells us what he expects from his new partner in the team's coaching staff. "TJ knows what to expect, he saw the work of Josh McAdams last season. We are happy to bring him back with the team in this new role since he has been with us for a few years, he knows how things work with the team, he represents 100% the philosophy of the Capitales. He is still the first player on the pitch and has always supported young players as a veteran. I'm not afraid that he can play his role as a hitting coach well."

Obviously, since TJ White will be 31 very soon, he will take a veteran spot in the lineup and will be called upon to contribute to the team's success on the field while ensuring that the other hitters on the team are in able to produce maximum performance. Prepare your balls, your caps and your programs. TJ will be back on the field to sign autographs for any fans who request them.
