YUHI SAKO WINS PITCHER OF THE WEEK

JULY 22, 2024 - Yuhi Sako of the New Jersey Jackals has been named the Frontier League Pitcher of the Week!

Yuhi Sako takes Pitcher of the Week after a complete-game shutout on Sunday, where he struck out 13 members of the New England Knockouts, including three to end the game in the ninth inning. Sako's 123-pitch marathon marked the first complete-game shutout for New Jersey since Jorge Tavarez accomplished the same feat against Empire State on August 19, 2023. 

Sako is the second Jackal to win a weekly award in 2024, with Nilo Rijo winning Player of the Week back on the week of June 2nd. The right-handed native of Ashiya, Japan made the difficult transition from reliever to starter this season and now leads the club in ERA (2.86), innings pitched (63.0), and strikeouts (59).
