TROIS-RIVIERES’ JUAN KELLY AND SUSSEX COUNTY’S JOHN BAKER TAKE WEEKLY AWARDS
June 20, 2022 – The Sussex County Miners went 5-1 this week, sweeping the Empire State Greys and winning their three-game series against Quebec. In the June 17th game against Quebec, John Baker threw a complete game to bring a victory to the Miners against one of the top teams in the league. The Trois-Rivieres Aigles went 4-2 this week, taking one of three games from Ottawa and sweeping Empire State. Juan Kelly of Trois-Rivieres, played a large role in the two series, extending his hitting streak that started in the previous week to seven games.
John Baker threw an incredible ball game on June 17th. He pitched a complete game where he had a quality start. He had 14 strikeouts, allowed four hits, two homers, one walk and allowed two earned runs. Baker ranks 3rd in the East with a .103 batting average against. He is also ranked 8th in the East with 23 strikeouts against his conference.
Juan Kelly continues to swing the bat well extending his hitting streak to seven games on Sunday. He finished the week with a .619 batting average, 13 hits, four doubles, two home runs, eight runs scored, nine RBIs walked six times, struck out twice and stole one base. His best game this week was on June 15th at Ottawa. He finished the game 4-5 with two doubles, two RBI and a run. Kelly is ranked 9th with a .500 on-base percentage in the East.
